Cuban Baptistry

A week ago we had one of the biggest churches come together on Friday afternoon, outside Havana. Not everyone came because Friday afternoon is tough to get away. So only half of the church showed up– only 553 people! So much for “low profile.”

Courtyard in Capitol building in Havana Cuba. A statue to Satan.
It reads “To the Angel of Rebellion.”
The beauty of it all is that there is an explosion of the Gospel that follows the defiance. Hundreds of thousands are coming to faith in Christ who shed His blood for all!

Once somber and sad now rejoicing in the Lord!

Cuba:
The blond blue eyed girl in the middle was hopping on the only leg she has, through a plantation path in Cuba the first time I saw her. I asked our church-planter in the next town if he had ever seen this girl who went around hopping on one leg. The church-planter and his wife were happy to tell them that they not only have seen her. She and her mother and grandmother are members of the new church being planted!
They sent word for her and her family to come so we could meet them. We heard the sad story. When Mydelis was only six months, a Dr. tried to put an I. V. into her leg. The procedure went tragically wrong and the Dr. accidentally severed the femural artery! He had no way of cauterizing the hemorrhage. The only option available to save her life was to amputate the leg.
The story sent us into a three year journey trying to acquire a prosthetic limb for her. In the process we led an orthopedic surgeon and his wife to the Lord; and other doors opened up for the Gospel as well.
The great news is that now Mydelis has an articulated prosthetic limb. She has a Christian husband in the new church. and they have a baby! God is Good!

March 2010

This has to be the greatest of all weeks that I have ever spent in Cuba—and you were there, in spirit!

One thousand, one hundred and fifty souls were saved by the preaching of the Gospel in one week of preaching and evangelistic efforts by our teams!  Just look at the amazing reports from Guantanamo and Santiago:

  • People evangelized: 12,157
  • People interested and enrolled in follow-up: 3,205
  • People converted: 928
  • Response to evangelistic meetings:

September 2010

The biggest evangelistic impact: Cuba!  We’ve had groups from Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma—and we have groups coming from California and Oregon.

I’ve logged 10,500 kilometers (6,300 miles) in three weeks; our teams have led 1,500 people to Christ—and we ask people in big crowds only to raise their hands if this is the first time they are praying to receive Christ!

Ocean Baptism

The picture above, is one of hundreds of baptisms we have had in the many contexts around the world. It is a grand celebration to see believers take this step of obedience as they join church communities and MULTIPLY! Praise the Lord and THANK YOU WHO Are part and parcel of making this possible!! God is in it!!!

March 2010

In the western part of the Cuba, two of the most successful pastors among our workers were brought to police headquarters and subjected to threats of a swift end to their activities.

Alberto (not his real name), full of the Spirit, was serene and profoundly focused.
